MCEC’s New Faces

MCEC has undergone some big transitions in recent months.  We were sad to see the departure of two MCEC icons, Jackie Duemler and Jacqui Bauer, but we wish them all the luck in their new endeavors and are delighted to welcome new faces to the MCEC team!

Joining us as an Indiana University Cox Scholar intern, freshman Ellen Bergan  has taken on  the role of Energy Outreach Coordinator. Focusing mostly on outreach events and  program implementation as well as administrative duties, Ellen will be with us for the next four years as she completes her undergraduate  degree.

Basim Alessa, Ellen Bergan, and Eyob Moges. The fresh new faces of MCEC.

Another new face is IU junior Eyob Moges, who is  volunteering as the Workplace Partners Program Coordinator. He hopes to expand the program with a focus on energy efficiency in restaurants and rental housing.

Also joining us is Basim Alessa, who will be working on data analysis softwares in order to  conduct more in-depth energy audits in local residential and commercial spaces.

Alongside this new set of  faces is an updated  set of goals. Living up to  our name as a Monroe County initiative, MCEC  hopes to expand our  educational energy outreach beyond the area of central Bloomington, targeting areas such as Ellettsville, Stinesville, Harrodsburg, and Smithville Sanders.  Additionally, we are looking forward to continuing our Solar, Wind, and Watts Program with area schools, as well as working with local businesses and rental properties to create more sustainable, energy efficient spaces.
