This spring, the Monroe County Energy Challenge provided free or low cost attic insulation and air sealing thanks to a generous grant from Vectren Energy and NCCC AmeriCorps volunteers! The program prioritized low income families in Monroe County. In just 7 weeks of the program, our NCCC Americorps team insulated 20 local homes, reducing participants utility bills by a combined $65,000 over the next 10 years. The program has also helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 71,500 lbs/year! In additional to their phenomenal contribution to the AIP program, the NCCC team also helped teach the MCEC Solar, Wind and Watts Roadshow in 30 classrooms and 690 students. This unique program teaches 2nd-5th grade students about energy conservation and renewable energy resources through engaging hands-on activities.
In honor of all their hard work in our community, Mayor John Hamilton proclaimed April 26, 2017 NCCC AmeriCorps Team Maple 1 day!
THANK YOU Team Maple 1!
