Project Porchlight Launch Event

MCEC launched its newest energy initiative, Project Porchlight on October 1st!

FREE LEDS! When, where?

During the month of October, MCEC will distribute 1,000 free LED light bulbs through Project Porchlight, an initiative designed to encourage local residents to implement energy-saving practices and technologies in their homes.

For our launch at Rev Ernest D. Butler Park, we gave out 100+ LED light bulbs and 45 weatherization kits loaded with supplies to help keep homes warm this winter!  Participants also pedaled our energy bikes, learned weatherization techniques from MCEC staff and sign up for free home energy assessments. Mayor John Hamilton even stopped by to join the fun! We had a blast!

Missed the launch?

Don’t worry! We will be hosting a variety of energy fairs and events at local hardware stores and neighborhood parks to distribute the LEDs throughout the month of October. Come visit us at any of the following events:

  • Saturday, October 8, 11-2pm: Bloomington Hardware
  • Saturday, October 15, 10:30-1pm: Black Lumber
